St Dominic’s School is situated on a beautiful, elevated site on the Greensand Ridge in the south west corner of Surrey. A few miles to the south are the borders of Hampshire and West Sussex. The School stands in 56 acres of wooded grounds with ample space for recreational activities and magnificent views in all directions. The School is easily accessible by road and is less than a mile from the main line station at Witley with its frequent links to Waterloo and Portsmouth.
St Dominic's, originally 'St Dominic's Open Air School' has occupied its current site (which was called Mount Olivet) since 1929, and is one of the oldest schools in the country catering for students with special needs. The School was established by the Order of the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, who were it's Trustees and Governors until the end of August 2013. The School remains a community based on Christian values.
The School is a well-known and highly regarded special needs school in Surrey, which has achieved Autism Accreditation. The school caters for up to 110 pupils and Sixth Form students between the ages of 7 – 19, who have a range of academic abilities and complex special needs. It is owned and run by Orchard Hill College Academy Trust.
St Dominic’s is highly respected for the wide range of excellent educational opportunities offered to the pupils and Sixth Form students successful in gaining a place here. We offer access to an extensive range of GCSE subjects pitched at individual students’ levels. Within the Sixth Form, students are able to access external college placements as part of their personalised holistic education and therapy provision.
The School has an in-house team of qualified therapists offering Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration. The range of therapeutic support available to pupils and students enables them to access the curriculum at an appropriate level, maximising each individual’s potential for achievement. Additionally, there are purpose-built medical facilities where nursing cover is provided on a daily basis by qualified staff. The School has achieved the prestigious Arts Council 'Artsmark' Silver Award, which rewards schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to developing a dynamic arts programme. We have also achieved National Healthy Schools status, for promoting the health and wellbeing of all our children and young people in a variety of ways
