Examination Results 2017

5th September 2017

Pupils and students in Year 6, Year 11 and Sixth Form sat examinations in the Summer term of 2017. We are, first and foremost, impressed with the hard work, dedication and tenacity that got them all to the point where they felt able to overcome barriers to learning and sit examinations. This is a huge achievement in itself and we are very proud of everyone who sat an examination this year.

Key Stage 2

This year we had a small cohort of five Year 6 pupils who all achieved their predicted results.

Two pupils met the floor standard in reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling and maths.

Key Stage 4

100% of pupils obtained at least one GCSE.

38% of pupils obtained 5 A*-G grades including English and Maths.

13% of pupils obtained 5A*-C grades including English and Maths.

Key Stage 5

100% of students obtained passes in qualifications through V Cert, ASDAN and BTEC at Levels 1 and 2.

100% of students (1) obtained a pass at CoPE Level 3.

100% of students obtained passes at their courses through Guildford College.

100% of students obtained passes in AS Art and Design at A*-G grade.

80% of students resitting English and Maths qualifications improved their grades.

For our leavers, we are particularly pleased that they have all obtained the qualifications they needed to transition to their next placements. For pupils and students in Year 11 and Sixth Form, this year there has been a greater degree of uncertainty over GCSE results due to the introduction of new courses in English and mathematics. We are pleased that our results represent good progress for pupils and students. The hard work and commitment of their teachers and the whole multidisciplinary team has ensured that our pupils and students have been fully prepared to meet the challenge of the new examinations.

We are delighted that five of our Year 11 leavers have re-joined us in Sixth Form and local mainstream colleges. Our Sixth Form leavers transition to placements in NATSPEC colleges, studying Level 3 qualifications in mainstream colleges and employment. We are very proud that one pupil has gone on to gain employment in a local primary school due to the success of a work experience placement arranged through St. Dominic’s Sixth Form!

A huge well done to all of you. We are very proud of everything you have achieved and feel honoured to have worked with you to “achieve ambitious goals and live life to the full”.
