Safeguarding

This School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This means that we have a Safeguarding policy (available to download from our School Policies page) and procedures in place which we refer to in our prospectus. All governors and staff (including supply staff and volunteers) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures. Parents, carers, pupils and students are welcome to read the Policy on request.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a pupil/student’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils/students are discussed with the young person (if age appropriate) and his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to his/her welfare.

Our Child Protection Liaison Officers are:

  • Debbie Louw, Bursar
  • Anna Rhodes, Head of Therapy
  • Vicky Maxted, Assistant Head of Education

If you are concerned about a young person’s welfare, please write clear notes, preferably and ensure that it is received – in a sealed envelope – by one of the CPLOs above who will discuss the contents with you at the earliest opportunity that day. Do NOT conduct your own investigation.

If your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that s/he is a danger to children) then you should report this to the Principal (or the Chair of Governors if the concern relates to the Principal) in confidence, who will consider what action to take.

To help with internet safety issues at home, a 'Parents' Guide to Facebook' is available to download below.
