Occupational Therapy
On admission, the students’ motor, sensory, perceptual and functional skills are fully assessed. Where a child requires Occupational Therapy, a course of targeted treatment is offered in an individual or group setting, and advice and support given to the child in both the classroom and in the residential units. Occupational Therapists work alongside teaching staff in a variety of lessons, including handwriting and maths, and also in the dining room to improve mealtime skills.

The Occupational Therapists, together with Speech and Language Therapists, run class-based Therapy Groups. These aim to develop planning and ability in language and functional activities. A Leavers’ Programme for Key Stage 4 proves highly effective in developing the skills needed by the students to function independently.
