PSHCE

(Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education) This area of the curriculum is pivotal to the development of young people, and we at St Dominic’s recognise this with the emphasis we place on it. All the students are timetabled to receive one lesson per week and this is supported by Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists. We follow a carefully planned programme that meets each individual’s needs. The work is based upon National Guidelines and the Citizenship syllabus produced by the DfES. The work in this aspect is not, however, purely restricted to these times but is implicit in all the work staff and students do throughout each day. All of this, when combined, ensures that all students attending St Dominic’s have every opportunity to develop a wide range of skills that will enable them to develop skills for independence and transition to further education or work.
