Design & Technology

DT_2Design and Technology is taught across the School and follows the National Curriculum requirements. The students develop their D & T capability through a series of designing and making activities. The School is well resourced and Years 7-11 have access to specialist teaching and facilities. Included in the D & T area is a design and drawing section where planning and modelling work with electronic and kit materials can be experienced. Within the workshop, students can deal with resistant materials including wood, metals and plastics. A full range of product making is evident, and all students complete activities which include modelling in balsa and card, simple electrical work, forming plastics, shaping and joining aluminium, steel, wood and plywood. Lego gears, pneumatic construction kits, computer control and drawing work are used to extend and complement the more traditional areas.
