We are very proud that, of the cohort of 9, no pupils came under the ‘NEET’ category. The figures also reflect the strength of our Sixth Form provision.
Sixth Form Attainment 2011-12
Sixth Form students achieved 100% pass rate across all college and in-house courses.
Progression:
Y12 students, 9 in cohort, 100% progression
Y13 students, 8 in cohort, 63% progression, 37% no change (3 students 1 of whom was on the second year of A level course and another on second year of GCSEs)
Y14 students, 2 in cohort, 100% progression both passing level 3 qualifications.
These figures show how our Sixth Form provision enables students to progress relative to their starting points. Most have been provided with ‘a level of study which is higher than learners’ prior attainment, or which provides appropriate lateral progression for some students with learning difficulties or disabilities, where appropriate’ (Guidance On The Use Of Data To Support Judgements On 'Outcomes For Learners’ In Learning And Skills Inspections October 2012, No. 120254).
Students have a good understanding of progression opportunities and what they need to achieve to be successful. The personalised provision has had a positive impact on the students as they are prepared to move on to a higher-level course, higher education or employment. See Destination Data below. We are particularly successful in achieving successful and sustained destinations for ASD.

The success of St Dominic’s Sixth Form is reflected in the destination data. We are very proud of the three students who have moved into Higher Education, two of whom are at University embarking on degrees. The third is undertaking a Foundation Degree course. But equally successful are those students who are now able to access their next stage of education independently through a mainstream setting. They have developed the skills and confidence to deal with life’s challenges. An example of this is a student who successfully completed a Level 2 course, supported by St Dominic’s staff, at college in Year 12 and who now has moved on to the Level 3 course independently at college.
We have also recognised that some students were not ready to embark on the next level of course independently at college and so have devised in-house courses, for example: Level 2 Horticulture and Level 3 ‘Planning my Future’ to ensure progression for these students.
