Key Stage 4
Key Stage 4 covers Years 10 and 11 at St Dominic’s.
The Key Stage 4 curriculum is delivered entirely by subject specialists. Each child has an individually designed timetable leading towards needs-appropriate examination courses. Careers education, work experience and a Link Course with local colleges contribute to the guidance available to students making the transition from St Dominic’s. There are well established links with the Surrey Careers Service, who support the post-16 planning for all students. Links are also established with Careers Consultants in the student’s home area.
All students in Key Stage 4 follow courses which access a range of GCSE examinations. The range of subjects and examinations taken by each student is tailored to their individual needs and each year the examinations offered are reviewed to ensure they meet their varied abilities and interests. Some students are entitled to special arrangements from Examination Boards due to their learning difficulties. These are identified during Year 10 so that all students are able to take part in an examination programme relevant to their needs. For those students who would benefit from a more vocationally based programme of study, individual programmes can be designed to incorporate additional time at college and work experience.
